About Granite
For a feeling of permanence and a look of beauty, there is no other material to compare with polished granite as the product of choice for your kitchen. Strong and durable, easy to maintain, heat resistant and almost impossible to scratch, a polished granite worktop will give your kitchen a classic finish.
Polished granite (or marble as some prefer) is available in a variety of colours such as black, red, brown, blue, green etc. You can be sure to find a colour exactly right for your individual kitchen taste at Stoneworld.
Caring for your granite worktop
Natural stone requires a seal with sealing agent. This is done at the manufacturing and fitting stage. However, routine cleaning is required using washing up liquid or other non-abrasive kitchen cleaner to keep your new counter in perfect condition. Stoneworld supply a cleaning care kit with each counter top.
Hot Items
Avoid placing hot pans directly on the granite surface. Either use a trivet or other heat-resistant plate. We can also fit heat rails (removable rods) to any of our granite counter tops. Please ask for details.
Cutting & Chopping
Although cutting & chopping will not damage the surface, it may well blunt your knives so it's best done on a chopping board.
General care
Do not use cleaners which contain bleach. Wipe up all spills quickly, especially citrus, vinegar, alcohol, coffee or oil.
Given these basic precautions, your granite counter top should last a lifetime, which is why traditional granite counter tops have been used for hundreds of years.
